Hayward, CA - The Nadia Lockyer campaign for Alameda County Supervisor announced today that the campaign is holding a community walk on Saturday with special guests Board of Equalization Chairwoman Betty T. Yee and former Assemblymember Johan Klehs in support of Nadia Lockyer in her campaign for the District 2 seat on the Board of Supervisors. The walk will take place on Saturday, April 24th at 10am at the campaign headquarters, located at 933 A St. in Hayward.
"At a time when county governments are struggling financially statewide, leaving communities vulnerable from drastic cuts to health and public safety programs, Nadia Lockyer has the experience and the know-how to implement creative solutions that save tax dollars-- a necessary skill in today's climate," said Yee. "As a mother and the Executive Director of the Alameda County Family Justice Center, Nadia will bring a unique perspective to the Board of Supervisors, and will be an active, passionate voice, fighting on behalf of the people of District 2," Yee added.
"I am honored to have the support of Board of Equalization Chairwoman Betty Yee and former Assemblyman Johan Klehs," said Nadia Lockyer. "As Supervisor, I will work hard on behalf of the citizens of Alameda County to ensure that County government serves the people of our community," Lockyer added.
Lockyer is a county manager who currently serves as the Executive Director of the Alameda County Family Justice Center, a one-stop service delivery center comprised of multiple public, non-profit, and government agencies with the single mission of providing easily accessible and coordinated services to victims of domestic violence, child abuse, elder abuse, and sexual assault and exploitation. Prior to her current position as Executive Director of the ACFJC, Nadia practiced law representing adult victims of childhood sexual and physical abuse.
Lockyer, a Democrat, has been endorsed by numerous organizations such as the Alameda Labor Council, AFL-CIO, the Deputy Sheriffs' Association, as well as state and local leaders, including Attorney General Jerry Brown, Sen. Art Torres (Ret.), Assemblymember Mary Hayashi, Alameda County Supervisor Scott Haggerty, and Hayward City Councilmember Bill Quirk.
